Movie review – Thor: Ragnarok is the perfect combination of comedy, action, adventure.
** This review contains spoilers **
The latest superhero movie ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is a real treat for Marvel fans. It is a colourful movie, full of action, adventure and filled with awesome new characters.
The first Thor (2011), directed by Kenneth Branagh and the 2013 follow-up, directed by Game of Thrones vet Alan Taylor, both failed to excite the moviegoers. But third time really is a charm for the God of Thunder.
New Zealand director Taika Waititi (known for “Hunt for the Wilderpeople” and “What We Do in the Shadows”), has turned this solo Avenger’s adventure into a memorable journey with more humour and interesting characters. Director Waititi has certainly made it one of Marvel’s best movies.
The plot revolves around Ragnarok – an apocalypse meant to signify the demolition of the mythical realm of Asgard. ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ follows the Norse God of thunder and lightning as he is trapped on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer Mjölnir. Thor is threatened by Hela, the Goddess of Death, played by the charmingly wicked Cate Blanchett who wants to rule over Asgard. To stop the destruction of his home world at the hands of Hela, Thor assembles a team – called “The Revengers” – including the Incredible Hulk, the wickedly charming Loki and the new one, Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson).
Hela is extremely powerful and violent as the villain. Cate Blanchett is just killing in this role! Love the headgear but somehow reminds me of Maleficient.
This movie reveals Hulk’s human side as you can see a friendly person inside the huge, scary, super strong character.
Loki has some great scenes and dialogues. Every moment with Tom Hiddleston on screen is awesome!
Chris Hemsworth’s performance is impressive and he can be really funny. This movie introduces the real ‘God of Thunder’ as Thor for the first time was extremely powerful without his hammer. That scene where he reveals his true powers is pure awesomeness!
Some of the biggest laughs in the movie come from a rock-covered character called Korg, who instantly became everyone’s favourite character because of the hilarious tone and dialogues. Fun fact: This awesome character is played by the man who directed it, Taika Waititi.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is the perfect combination of comedy, action, adventure. The story is truly interesting with tons of fun moments! The visualization is impeccable. The soundtrack of the movie is incredible too. It really is one hella-awesome experience!
This movie really exceeded my expectation. In fact, it is so marvelous and hilarious that you can surely watch it again and enjoy it the same.
P.S.: There are 2 end-credit scenes.
