COMSTECH announces 85 fellowships for Yemeni scholars

COMSTECH has announced the allocation of 85 fellowships for Yemeni scholars, graciously extended by CCoE member institutions and COMSTECH.

In a collaborative effort between COMSTECH, CCoE institutions, and the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Islamabad, the Coordinator General of COMSTECH, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, unveiled the second phase of the COMSTECH-CCoE Yemen program at the COMSTECH secretariat. COMSTECH is the OIC Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation and is hosted by Pakistan.

Prof. Choudhary said that this initiative, known as the “COMSTECH-CCoE Yemen Program,” was initially introduced in June 2022, aiming to bolster the capacity of Yemeni scientists.

Hailing the efforts of Mohammed Motahar Alashabi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen, Prof. Choudhary commended his instrumental role in spearheading and facilitating this program. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the CCoE institutions for their generous contributions towards these fellowships.

Moreover, Prof. Choudhary revealed that COMSTECH, in collaboration with the University of Lahore, is offering 25 full degree programs ranging from BS to PhD for Yemeni citizens.

The participating institutions, including the University of Lahore, Health Services Academy, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Management and Technology, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, University of Sargodha, Superior University, and National Agriculture Research Center, have extended fellowships in the second phase across various fields such as Medicinal Chemistry, Health, Agriculture, and Climate.

The launch event witnessed the presence of distinguished personalities including the Rector of the University of Lahore, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Rector of the University of Management and Technology, Dr. Asif Raza, Vice Chancellor of Health Services Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Chairman of PARC, Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Director General of NARC, Dr. Shahzad Asad, and representatives from Superior University and the University of Sargodha.
