New foreign envoys arrive in Islamabad

Foreign envoys from UAE, Egypt, Nigeria, Switzerland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Oman, Netherlands, Mauritius, France and Denmark arrive in Pakistan

Several foreign Ambassadors and High Commissioners presented their credentials to the President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain during a ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr (Presidential House) in Islamabad recently.

The foreign envoys from UAE, Egypt, Nigeria, Switzerland and Bosnia & Herzegovina who presented their credentials included Maj. Gen. (R) Ashimiyu Adebayo Olaniyi High Commissioner-designate of Nigeria, Thomas Kolly Ambassador-designate of Switzerland, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi Ambassador-designate of UAE, Brig. Gen. (R) Sakib Foric Ambassador-designate of Bosnia & Herzegovina and Ahmed Fadel Yakoub Ambassador-designate of Egypt to Pakistan.

Earlier, in a separate ceremony, envoys designate of Oman, Netherlands, Mauritius, France, and Denmark also presented their credentials to the President.

Each envoy-designate arrived at the main gate of the Aiwan-e-Sadr in a horse-driven carriage. Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Ms. Tehmina Janjua introduced the Ambassadors and High Commissioners to the President.

On the occasion, the National Anthem of Pakistan and their respective countries were played and the envoys designate were also presented Guard of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that “Pakistan strictly follows the principle of peaceful coexistence and is a responsible member of international community.”

“Pakistan is keen to further strengthen its relations with all friendly and brotherly countries.”  The President hoped that all the envoy designates will work for advancing the bilateral relations of their respective countries with Pakistan especially in the field of trade and investment.

The President stated that Pakistan is the biggest victim of terrorism and extremism and has rendered great sacrifices in the fight against this menace which are being recognized by the international community. He reiterated that the operation against the miscreants will be continued till the elimination of the last terrorist.

He stated that Pakistan is making headway in all fields including the economy. He pointed out that the pragmatic and well-planned strategy devised by the present Government has brought back the economy on right track. He added that several mega projects in the fields of energy and infrastructure are in the development stage which will further produce a salutary impact on the economy after their completion. He underscored that the liberal investment policies adopted by the Government offer vast opportunities to the foreign investors due to which Pakistan is now one of the most sought-after destination for investment in South Asia.

The President felicitated the newly appointed High Commissioner/Ambassadors to Pakistan and wished them a comfortable and pleasant stay in Pakistan.
