Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day celebrations begin in Islamabad at PNCA with National Music Festival

Independence Day celebrations have commenced at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) today with the National Music Festival.

PNCA has organzied month-long programmes to commemorate the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan with all fervor.

The celebration began with the National Music Festival on Friday, August 4 at 8pm. All classical singers perofrmed on the day one while the performance of the instrumentalists is scheduled on Saturday Au, ust 5. The ghazals and geet night will take place on Sunday August 6.

Folk singer Laila Jutti said that National Music Festival is one of the beautiful programme being planned by PNCA to pay to glowing tribute to our heroes and leaders of the nation.

The objective of the festival is to foster healthy theatrical activities by providing a National platform to the leading theater groups in the country, PNCA official said.

The PNCA Director General Syed Jamal Shah said that the celebration of Independence Day reflects the vigor of the nation, adding that programmes would be inclusive of different segments of the society. The culture of all federating units would be presented to showcase the harmony and diversity of all parts of the country.

A photo exhibition on theme “Land, Life and People of Pakistan,” will also be held here at National Art Gallery of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in connection with Independence Day celebrations.

“The objective of the exhibition is to showcase the photo images of our most celebrated photographers on this prestigious occasion and to invite the audience, expose and share the cultural consciousness of our beloved country,” an official of the PNCA said.

Pakistani and Turkish singers, instrumentalists and performers will take part in the mega musical night will on Sunday August 13 at the PNCA auditorium.

The National Puppetry Theatre (NPT) will present special thematic shows for children at the Liaquat Memorial Hall Rawalpindi and PNCA Islamabad on August 4 and August 5 respectively.

PNCA officials said that Theater Groups from all over the country were invited to participate in the said festival and avail a wonderful opportunity to showcase their talent at National level and share their ideas.

PNCA will pay an amount of Rs 1,50,000/- as a production cost. The number of participants of each group would not be exceeded 12, including the Director, Producer, Actors, Technicians.
