Representatives of 19 American Universities visited Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi to promote U.S. study options

Islamabad – Pakistani students had the chance to explore study options in United States as well as interact with representatives of American universities. Around 19 U.S. universities visited Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi city to promote U.S study options for Pakistani students by participating in college fairs and visiting schools.
The seventh Education USA-led South Asia Tour visit to Pakistan was organized by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). It was a cultural experience and recruitment opportunity for accredited U.S colleges and universities.
The South Asia Tour provides an opportunity for Pakistan’s brightest high school students to obtain current and accurate information about academics and admissions at accredited U.S. colleges and universities.
This year’s recruiting delegation included representatives from Iowa State University of Science & Technology, Murray State University, Valparaiso University, University of Northern Iowa, New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering, Colorado State University, University of Bridgeport, Old Dominion University, Saint Peter’s University, Emporia State University, University of Kentucky, Arizona State University, St. Ambrose University, Savannah College of Art & Design, Hiram College, Western Kentucky University, Wichita State University, and Northeastern Illinois University and Kalamazoo College. In addition to meeting prospective students, university representatives interacted with many institutional counterparts in each city, including principals, counselors, faculty, and other administrative staff.
USEFP Executive Director Ms. Rita Akhtar appreciated the talent and aptitude of Pakistani students and said,
“Today’s youth realize that earning a degree from a reputable college or university is the first rung on the ladder to success, and USEFP aims to connect students in Pakistan with U.S. universities. The South Asia Tour is a great networking platform to develop those ties. This tour furthers our mission of promoting mutual understanding between the people of Pakistan and the United States through educational and cultural exchange.”
EducationUSA Advising Manager Mr. Umair Khan said, “Studying in the United States and abroad doesn’t just give you tangible degrees and certificates. Your experience says something about who you are. Living and studying in another country is challenging, and requires courage and a positive attitude. Sometimes, these characteristics are more influential than your degree.”
The South Asia Tour is part of the diverse services offered by USEFP’s EducationUSA centers to assist and facilitate students in Pakistan to connect with colleges and universities in the United States through a variety of fairs, counseling services, and outreach activities.
USEFP is a binational commission established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States to promote cultural exchange between the two countries. Since 1951 when the first group of Pakistani grantees travelled to America, and 1952 when the first American grantees visited Pakistan, the Foundation has fostered mutual understanding between the people of Pakistan and the United States through educational and cultural exchange.
