Land has been acquired for the construction of New Rawalpindi near Rawat
Punjab government gave the official nod for the construction of New Rawalpindi, near Rawat along with GT Road. The new city will be equipped with all the modern facilities and will help in reducing the pressure of the population.
The city will be built on a total of 6,000 acre area. The land has already been procured for this purpose. The new city, which is a part of a 20-year-old master plan of the city, will include educational institutions, a theme park and a 500 beds hospital. RDA Chairman Murtaza said that about 700 acres will be utilized for the educational and technical institutions, 300 acres for the hospital, and 200 acres for the theme park. The foundation of the city will be laid in 2020.
State of the art city near Lahore
Government of Punjab plans on building a state of the art city near Lahore that will be sprawling 100,000 acres of land. The city, which has an estimated cost of 5 trillion rupees, will be a public private partnership. The government envisions a city similar to Dubai.
The project will help counter the population stress on Lahore and will also help in generating both jobs and tourism in the region. The financial aspects of the project is yet to get a nod from the provincial assembly.
