COVID-19 vaccine offered to people aged 40 and over in Pakistan

COVID-19 vaccination for Pakistanis above 40 begins today

People aged 40 and over in Pakistan are now able to get their coronavirus vaccine shots starting May 3, officials say.

Many people in the age group of 40 to 40 started receiving text messages, directing them to vaccination centers.

Those who have not yet registered by sending their CNIC number to 1166 or visiting https://nims.nadra.gov.pk/nims/. 

Meanwhile, walk-in vaccinations for people above 50 years has also started.

More than 2 million people have been vaccinated so far in the country of 220 million people in what has been described as the lowest rate in South Asia.

Pakistan’s Health chief Dr Faisal Sultan has said that so far the government has signed deals for procuring 30 million coronavirus vaccine doses, adding that 19 million doses will be received by June.
