Turkish aid agency TIKA honor orphan children in Pakistan with Ramadan Iftar and Eid gifts

Turkish aid agency TIKA extended a gesture of compassion and solidarity towards orphan children in Pakistan, hosting a special Ramadan Iftar event and generously distributing Eid gifts.

The Iftar programs in Islamabad and Sindh province catered to as many as 500 orphans and special children. Eid gift sets were distributed among the children, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency’s (TIKA) initiative was aimed at spreading joy and underscoring the importance of nurturing a sense of belonging and care for those in need during the month of Ramadan.

The initiative underscored TIKA’s ongoing commitment to supporting and uplifting the lives of underprivileged children in Pakistan.

Iftar dinner for orphan kids in Islamabad

TİKA Islamabad and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal jointly hosted an Iftar dinner at F-9 Park, Islamabad, inviting 250 orphans from PBM Sweet Home, along with 70 additional guests.

The event, held to commemorate World Orphans Day, highlighted the commitment of both organizations to support and uplift the lives of underprivileged children.

Muhsin Balci, TiKA country head in Pakistan, commended PBM’s efforts in caring for orphaned children and reaffirmed TiKa’s dedication to partnering with PBM to protect the rights of these children.

During the event, the TIKA team also distributed gifts to orphans and emphasized the crucial role of community involvement in enhancing the welfare of impoverished and orphaned children.

Additionally, TIKA provided Ramadan food packages to 2,000 families in Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Rawalpindi, Kotli, Karachi, and Dadu during the holy Islamic month. In collaboration with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, TIKA also organized daily Iftar dinners for around 1,000 needy people in Karachi.

Iftar for orphan children in Karachi

The Turkish aid agency also hosted an Iftar dinner at the Turkish Consulate General in Karachi, for 150 orphan and disabled children from Alkhidmat’s Orphan Care program.

“It has been a privilege to have Iftar with the most beautiful and sweet 150 orphan and special children from 20 different NGOs” and to distribute Eid gifts to the children, TIKA Karachi said in a statement.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Consul General of Turkiye in Karachi Cemal Songu, TIKA’s Karachi Coordinator Halil Ibrahim Basaran, and other NGO representatives attended the Iftar dinner and distributed Eid gifts among the children.

Turkish Consul General Cemal Sangu conveyed his delight in hosting the Iftar for the lovely children of Karachi. “This sacred month challenges us to live by the highest moral standards, to speak truthfully, act justly, and extend compassion, love, tolerance and help to those in need,” he said.

TIKA Coordinator Halil Ibrahim Basaran acknowledged the crucial role of NGOs in social development and thanked them for their participation.

Governor Kamran Tessori emphasized the significance of caring for orphans and special children, praising the NGOs for their dedicated work and expressing gratitude to Turkiye for organizing the Iftar event for the kids.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed his honor in partcipating and thanked the event organizers, the Consulate General of Turkiye and TİKA Pakistan.

The Iftar concluded with the distribution of Eid gifts by the Sindh Chief Minister and Governor, bringing joy to the children.
