793,700 flood-hit families receive over Rs 19 billion in compensation from Pakistan Govt

The Benazir Income Support Programme claims to have disbursed approximately Rs.19 billion among 793,701 flood affectees under the BISP’s Flood Relief Emergency Cash Assistance Programme which is providing Rs25000 to each family in flood-hit areas of the country, according to a press release issued on Monday.

Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, and the chairperson of BISP, Shazia Marri has directed all payment centers to stay open on holidays for the distribution of payment to the flood victims of Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Payments Received by victims in different provinces

As per the press release, the following amounts have been received by flood victims in different provinces till now:

  • 90,396 families received Rs2.25bn in Balochistan
  • 466,045 families in Sindh received Rs11.6bn
  • 98,677 families received Rs2.4bn in KP
  • 138,583 families in Punjab received Rs3.4bn

The BISP administration has asked the concerned staff present at the campsites to facilitate and fully cooperate with the people in their respective regions.

A control room has also been established at the Benazir Income Support Program to ensure trouble-free payment of cash to flood-affected families.

How to receive BISP’s Flood Relief Emergency Cash Assistance

To get registered in the Flood Relief Cash Assistance program, the affected families have to follow the given steps:

  • First, send your CNIC number to 8171 for registration
  • Secondly, when you receive a payment message, visit their nearby campsite to receive your payment

Million Meals Programme

Meanwhile, PepsiCo Pakistan has announced a countrywide Millions of Meals program to provide emergency food aid of five million meals to people struck by severe flooding in the country’s worst-hit districts in Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab.

The Millions of Meals program is part of the global food security plat­form Food for Good to make meals more easily available to communities.
