U Microfinance Bank has deferred loan payments for nearly 100,000 microloan customers amid COVID-19
PTCL Group announced a 1.9 billion rupees coronavirus package aimed to provide the most vulnerable communities with food and healthcare. The package will also include subsidized and free of cost connectivity services to help people stay in touch during the current lockdown.
PTCL Group, which includes Ufone, U Microfinance Bank and PTCL, will offer lowered charges for their various communication services. The steps will allow easier connectivity and funds transfer for the clients. The company also recently expanded its submarine internet capacity substantially due to the increase in internet usage during the lockdown.
The company has also waived off charges fund transfer charges for transaction undertaken through UPaisa wallets. U Microfinance Bank has deferred loan payments for nearly 100,000 microloan customers in the wake of the current crisis.
Both PTCL and Ufone, subsidiaries of PTCL Group, are providing free calls on Coronavirus Helplines including Ufone’s collaboration with Pakistan Red Crescent’s toll-free Helpline 1030 to further facilitate customers.
PTCL’s employees have also contributed parts of their salaries through the PTCL Razakaar Trust. The contribution worth PKR 100 Million collected was given directly to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. The Trust is also providing food, medicines and preventive gear in 25 cities.
The company is also providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for frontline workers and sponsoring hospital beds for coronavirus patients in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
