Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Rahim Yar Khan on January 5, where both leaders expressed a shared commitment to strengthening economic, political, and cultural partnerships, according to the official statement issued by the PM’s Office.
The high-level meeting revolved around a range of crucial topics, including economic collaboration, regional stability, climate change, and advancing mutual interests on the global stage.
PM Shehbaz highlighted the UAE’s role as a vital partner for Pakistan in development and investment. He emphasised Pakistan’s readiness to expand cooperation in renewable energy, technology, trade, infrastructure, and skill development. Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohamed expressed a keen interest in strengthening ties in the mining, minerals, and agriculture sectors.
The UAE president lauded Pakistan’s economic stabilisation and progress under PM Shehbaz’s leadership. He noted that this renewed economic momentum creates promising opportunities for enhanced bilateral investments. Sheikh Mohamed also reiterated the UAE’s long-standing commitment to Pakistan, stressing the importance of people-to-people connections and shared development goals.
PM Shehbaz extended heartfelt gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed for the UAE’s consistent support, particularly during humanitarian crises and in development aid. The premier underlined the enduring partnership between the two nations, built on shared history, culture, and economic ties.
Both leaders vowed to strengthen regional peace and progress by working closely on areas of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their determination to foster greater collaboration in priority sectors, ensuring a brighter and more prosperous future for both nations.
UAE President landed at Rahim Yar Khan airport, where he was received by PM Sharif himself along with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and other dignitaries.
The UAE is home to a significant Pakistani diaspora, whose contributions through remittances greatly support Pakistan’s economy. This partnership is further solidified by the UAE’s critical role in humanitarian aid, infrastructure development, and energy cooperation, which underscores the depth of the relationship between the two countries.
