Australia’s cricket team is back in Pakistan after 24 years

Australian cricket players shared their excitement about playing against Pakistan on social media

Australia’s men’s cricket team have touched down in Pakistan on Sunday for Australia’s first tour of the country in 24 years. They will be in a high-security bubble for the duration of their six-week stay.

Australia last toured to Pakistan in 1998 when it won the test series 1-0 while also winning all the matches in the limited-overs series.

Pakistan and Australia are due to play three test matches, three one-day internationals and a one-off Twenty20 during their six-week tour.

Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed the schedule of Australia’s tour to Pakistan. Three-Test series match will be played in Rawalpindi (4-8 March), Karachi (12-16 March) and Lahore (21-25 March). The three ODIs and solitary T20I will be played in Rawalpindi on March 29 and 31 and April 2 and 5.

‘I feel incredibly safe,’ Cummins says

Pat Cummins, who will captain Australia in an overseas Test match for the first time, says he feels “incredibly safe” after touching down in Pakistan.

Members of the 18-man squad of the Australian cricket team shared photos from their Qantas charter flight from Melbourne into Islamabad, to play the first Test match in the twin city to nearby Rawalpindi.

Vice-captain Steve Smith, Islamabad-born Usman Khawaja and spinners Ashton Agar and Mitchell Swepson all shared their excitement for the three-Test campaign that begins on Friday.
