There are over 2,000 ghost employees working in the Capital Development Authority (CDA), according to CDA officials.
The ghost employees were identified through biometric attendance system installed in the majority of the CDA offices.
The authorities have decided to conduct the physical audit of around 14,000 employees of the civic agency and for the purpose, biometric machines would be installed in 18 more offices of the CDA.
According to sources the majority of the ghost employees included staff deputed in field and remote offices and in the first phase, the salaries of such employees would be stopped before initiating disciplinary action against them.
The administration’s member Yasir Pirzada said, “We have now decided to stop the salaries of those who did not submit their details.”
He further said will also conduct a physical audit of all the working employees to minimize the irregularities and bio-metric attendance system in all of its branches.
The claim was made by the officials while talking to a local media. The officials said that only 11,000 out of 13,000 employees provided their details upon request.
Process for identification of the ghost employees in CDA and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad is in its final phase and a multi-pronged strategy is being adopted for the purpose.
Earlier D.G Administration CDA has issued a letter to all wings of the Authority directing the employees that are fulfilling their job responsibilities, to enroll themselves in the biometric attendance system to avoid any problem in the future.
He further directed all the employees to bring their CDA office cards, copies of CNIC, and latest pay slips to the office so that they can be enrolled into the system.
He said it is our responsibility to identify all ghost employees and I will leave no stone unturned in completing this process.
