CDA launches Electric Bus service to Daman-e-Koh and Shakarparian every hour on weekends

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched an exciting new initiative to make weekend travel more convenient and eco-friendly for residents and visitors of Islamabad.

Starting this weekend, electric buses will operate every hour from PIMS to two of Islamabad’s most popular tourist spots—Daman-e-Koh and Shakarparian—on Saturdays and Sundays.

This initiative is part of CDA’s effort to improve public transportation, making it easier for visitors to explore the natural beauty and iconic landmarks of Islamabad.

Daman-e-Koh, located in the Margalla Hills, offers stunning panoramic views of the city and is the perfect spot for a relaxing weekend getaway. Known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings, Daman-e-Koh provides a cozy environment where visitors can enjoy nature, delicious food, and incredible vistas of Islamabad.

Shakarparian Park is another must-visit location, offering two breathtaking viewpoints of the city. The west viewpoint is home to the iconic Pakistan Monument, a symbol of national unity, while the east viewpoint is a popular picnic spot. Both areas offer exceptional views of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, making them perfect for tourists and locals alike.

Greener, Smarter Islamabad

In addition to enhancing connectivity, the new electric bus service also supports CDA’s vision for a greener Islamabad. Designed to reduce emissions and promote sustainable travel, these buses are an eco-friendly alternative to traditional public transport.

With buses arriving every 10 minutes, the service promises to offer quick, reliable, and efficient transport, making it easier for people to explore the city’s natural beauty while contributing to a cleaner, smarter capital.

While the new electric bus service is a positive step toward improving public transportation, there have been some challenges. Many passengers have reported confusion due to the absence of clearly marked bus stops. Additionally, some commuters have experienced extended waiting times, with delays of up to 1–2 hours in certain instances.

However, the CDA has also announced several new feeder routes to further improve connectivity across the city.
