China’s Grand Canal Tourism Overseas Promotion Season 2024 launched in Pakistan

China’s rich cultural heritage and natural wonders are taking center stage as the China Cultural Center in Pakistan and the Cultural Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan jointly launch the Grand Canal Tourism Overseas Promotion Season 2024.

The initiative, which spans nearly 100 activities worldwide, aims to showcase the breathtaking beauty and historical significance of the Grand Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site stretching from Beijing to Zhejiang province in China.

Featuring a diverse range of online events, including photography exhibitions, video broadcasts, and interactive showcases, the promotion season offers audiences in Pakistan and around the globe a glimpse into the natural landscapes, cultural treasures, and societal advancements along the ancient waterway.

Highlighting the significance of the Grand Canal, renowned for being the earliest, largest, and longest man-made canal in the world, the promotion seeks to foster cross-cultural appreciation and understanding.

The official launch ceremony took place in Wuxi, China on April 2nd, 2024, where the Network of International Culturalink Entities (NICE) and BMW China unveiled the Grand Canal Culture Protection and Education Project. The event, which is in its second edition since 2022. is a collaborative effort by NICE, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Jiangsu Province, and the Wuxi Municipal People’s Government.

Additionally, the Department of Culture and Tourism and the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, along with the People’s Bank of China Jiangsu Branch, announced eight new measures aimed at enhancing the experience of inbound tourists.

These measures address various concerns, including access to tourism information, payment methods, language barriers, and the development of travel routes tailored to emerging preferences.

The “China’s Grand Canal Tourism Overseas Promotion Season 2024” promises a captivating online experience, with daily programs highlighting local culture, tourism projects, documentaries on intangible cultural assets, and more.
