German Embassy Islamabad shares Eid al Adha spirit with guards far from families

German Embassy Islamabad shared an Eid al Adha message centered on compassion and inclusion after German Ambassador Ina Lepel arranged sacrificial animals for security guards stationed outside the embassy, many of whom were spending the holiday away from their families.

In a social media post published on March 27, the embassy said: “No one should be left alone on Eid.”

The embassy added that “🇩🇪 Ambassador Ina Lepel shared the spirit of Eid al Adha by purchasing sacrificial animals for the guards outside our embassy, many of whom are living far from their families, so they too could celebrate and share the joy of Eid. Eid Mubarak!”

German Embassy’s Eid Gesture Draws Praise Online

The gesture by the German Embassy for security guards stationed outside the mission drew widespread appreciation on social media, with many users describing it as a “kind” and “generous” move.

Eid al Adha is one of the two major Islamic festivals. This year, however, soaring inflation and rising fuel costs have made celebrations more difficult for many middle- and lower-income households in Pakistan.

Against this backdrop, social media users praised the embassy’s gesture and its emphasis on sharing the spirit of Eid with those spending the holiday away from their families.

Eid Celebrations across Pakistan

Pakistanis marked Eid al Adha on May 27, 2026, by offering congregational prayers at mosques and Eidgahs across the country, where worshippers gathered to exchange Eid greetings and celebrate the occasion in a spirit of unity and reflection.

The day is marked with the sacrifice of an animal, usually a goat, sheep or cow, with meat distributed among relatives, friends, and those in need.

Muslims across the world celebrated Eid al Adha, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, on Wednesday.

Celebrated on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, Eid al Adha marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam. The festival commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.
