Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan directed the newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi to immediately restore welfare schemes in the province.
Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and former federal minister Moonis Elahi held a video link meeting with former prime minister Imran Khan on Thursday.
During the meeting, Imran Khan instructed the new Punjab government to resume Ehsaas, Sehat Insaaf cards, ration cards (food stamps) and other welfare projects in Punjab immediately. Dr. Sania Nishtar was tasked with the launch and management of the Ehsaas Ration Programme in Punjab.
“The previous government ignored our welfare programs but now we must speed up these initiatives without delay so that the people can get relief,” Khan said.
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi took oath as the new Punjab chief minister in the early hours of Wednesday after the court decision.
