Pakistan Govt fully focused on boosting trade and exports with Afghanistan
Pakistan dispatched the first consignment to Afghanistan via road from Islamabad airport on October 15.
The first cargo handling from Islamabad airport to Afghanistan was described as “a historic step” for regional connectivity and trade.
The cargo was managed by private freight company WF Integral and supported by the Pakistan government under its policy to improve trade with neighbors.
Talking to media on the occasion, Commerce Advisor Abdul Razak Dawood said the government was fully focused on boosting trade and exports with Afghanistan.
“Peace in Afghanistan and strengthening of the economic relations between the two countries would help increase bilateral trade.”
Razak said despite having a cargo handling facility at Islamabad Airport, the complex remained inactive for international transportation. “This facility would also help in despatching goods coming from other countries to Afghanistan,” he added.
Pakistan recently also send good to Turkey and Azerbaijan reviving the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul Road Transport Corridor project.
