Islamabad Hailstorm: Haval, Changan, and Peugeot offer up to 50% off on repairs

In a rare and heartening move, leading automotive brands in Pakistan—Haval, Changan, and Peugeot—have announced substantial repair discounts for vehicles damaged during the unexpected and severe hailstorm that struck Islamabad on April 16, 2025.

The storm, which brought powerful winds, torrential rainfall, and hailstones the size of golf balls, left behind widespread destruction, particularly targeting vehicles and solar infrastructure.

From shattered windscreens and dented hoods to broken sunroofs, residents in the twin cities woke up to a scene of chaos and costly damages. Parking lots and roads were littered with glass shards, debris, and hail-damaged vehicles, sparking immediate concerns among car owners about repair costs and insurance coverage.

In this moment of crisis, a new wave of corporate empathy emerged—one that goes beyond marketing and enters the realm of real community support.

Haval Pakistan offer 40% off repars

Haval Pakistan was among the first to respond. In a heartfelt statement to its customers, the company announced a 40% discount on repair costs for vehicles affected by the hailstorm. “We don’t just build vehicles; we build lasting relationships. And when tough times hit, we stand by our Haval family,” read a statement issued by Haval.

The discount covers critical components such as:

  • Windscreens
  • Rear screens
  • Panoramic sunroofs

Vehicle owners are encouraged to bring in their damaged Haval vehicles by April 19, 2025, to avail of this relief. Haval emphasized that this gesture is more than just damage control—it’s a way of standing in solidarity with affected communities.

“To all those affected by today’s hailstorm in Rawalpindi/Islamabad – our thoughts are with you… This is our way of saying: You’re not alone, we’re here for you. May Allah protect us all from such incidents in the future. Ameen!”

Changan Pakistan offers 50% off

Joining in this wave of goodwill, Changan Pakistan has offered a 50% discount on labour charges for hailstorm-related repairs. The offer applies to:

  • All Changan and Deepal vehicles
  • Only at authorised dealerships in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

The brand’s initiative, valid until April 20, 2025, is available exclusively through its official service centers. Changan’s message highlights a sense of communal responsibility, stating this support is about more than vehicle maintenance—it’s about standing with the people during a difficult time.

Peugeot Pakistan steps in with 45% discount

Peugeot Pakistan has also launched a relief campaign for its customers, offering a 45% discount on labour costs for all body repairs linked to the hailstorm.

“Was your Peugeot affected by the recent hailstorm? We’re here to help you get back on the road,” reads the company’s campaign message.

Repair services can be accessed at Peugeot Metropolis, located at Plot No. 375, Potohar Road, I-9/3 Industrial Area, Islamabad. Notably, the facility is open on Sundays, and the offer is valid until April 23, 2025.

Hailstorm causes widespread damage

The hailstorm caused more than cosmetic damage. It crippled solar carports, critical to the charging of electric vehicles, and damaged solar panels and frames, with estimated losses reaching into tens of millions of rupees.

Power infrastructure also bore the brunt of the storm, as fallen trees and flying debris took down electric lines and transformers, triggering widespread power outages. Public parks and streets saw children and pedestrians running for shelter, illustrating the storm’s dangerous unpredictability.

Pakistanis urges Toyota, Suzuki and Honda to follow suit

As citizens begin to recover, many are calling on Japan’s “Big Three” automakers—Toyota, Suzuki, and Honda—to follow suit and extend similar repair relief.

These companies have long dominated Pakistan’s automobile sector, with their roots in the country stretching back to the 1980s. However, recent years have seen a significant market shift.

By 2022, companies like Lucky Motor Corporation (with Kia) and Nishat Group (with Hyundai) began eating into the market share of traditional players by offering affordable, tech-savvy SUVs. In 2023, Sazgar Engineering launched locally assembled Haval vehicles through its partnership with Great Wall Motors.

The Chinese and Korean entrants have rapidly gained traction, offering hybrid SUVs and innovative features at competitive prices—forcing a recalibration of Pakistan’s automotive hierarchy.

The public sentiment now leans toward expecting corporate responsibility from all major players—especially those with decades-long presence in Pakistan.

Customer-centric branding in Pakistan

In an industry where after-sales service and customer care have often lagged behind global standards, the collective response from Haval, Changan, and Peugeot marks a paradigm shift. These companies have not only alleviated financial burdens but also strengthened brand loyalty during a time of distress.

As Islamabad and Rawalpindi rebuild, these brands have positioned themselves not just as automakers, but as community partners—a move that may redefine customer expectations across the industry.
