Islamabad Police arrested scores of criminals and recovered valuables worth nearly Rs195 million
Islamabad Police Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Qazi Jamil ur Rehman said that Islamabad police recovered looted items worth approximately Rs195 million including vehicles, gold ornaments, bikes, cash, and other valuables during the current year.
The IGP Islamabad appreciated the efforts of DIG (Operations) and his team in recovering the looted items. Thus far, valuables worth more than 87 million have been returned to the actual owners.
The Police chief said that the capital police has done well to counter the criminal elements. He noted that 117 people were arrested for their involvement in 105 dacoities. He also said that 27 gangs committing robberies in the area were busted. Another 26 gangs of anti-social elements were busted besides the arrest of 67 criminals. The police were able to recover vehicles worth tens of millions from these gangs.
During this period, Islamabad Police arrested 144 proclaimed offenders wanted to police in murder and kidnapping cases registered in 2003, 2009 and 2013 while 300 court absconders were held. At the same time, six blind murder cases were also resolved during this period and 12 alleged assassins were also arrested.
The IGP said that safe city project has been made more pro-active and suspects are being identified through it. He said that police guides have been deployed at police stations to facilitate visitors while police officers are ensuring regular interaction with their subordinates. He also said that the FIR registration has been made easy for the public.
IGP Islamabad also said that consultations are being carried out on how to improve the training of the police. He said that improving the quality of force was a top priority along with ensuring the safety and the security of the people of the area.
