In a bid to make full use of modern technology against criminals and connect with citizens in real-time, the Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) on Wednesday launched the WhatsApp service.
The WhatsApp number
This is for the first time in the history of the country that the Islamabad Police has launched WhatsApp-based services which will allow Citizens to send free WhatsApp messages to the police on 03342874287.
In a video message on Twitter, IG Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas highlighted that the ICT Police has provided all of its services to the residents of Islamabad via WhatsApp application and that they can reach out to capital cops with just a single click.

Messages to ICTP WhatsApp services will be free of charge. Send any message to 033-4287-4287 (033-ICTP-ICTP) using your WhatsApp messenger. However, the IG Islamabad Police urged the citizens to follow the procedure when registering their services.
How to register a complaint?
When a citizen will approach the above mentioned number to lodge a complaint, the Whatsapp service will provide a set of instructions. The complainant will be asked to select the relevant option to proceed.
Residents of the Capital can register their complaints in both Urdu and English language through WhatsApp-based service and ICT police will provide assistance and compliance on their complaints.
The citizens can avail option number four for online registration of their cases and to report a crime.
Individual audio/video will not be entertained
IG Islamabad Police clarified that the WhatsApp service will not answer any individually sent video, audio, or message and will only respond via the specified procedure.
