Islamabad sees 99 thefts during September

Islamabad Police was apprehended more than a thousand robbery suspect year to date

The robberies in the federal capital are on the rise as 99 such events were reported in September. The value of these thefts amounted up to 69 million rupees in the form of cash and other valuables. The robberies consisted of 12 separate kinds of crime against property, such as robberies, burglaries, thefts, vehicle thefts and street crime.

A total of 47 vehicles, including 19 motorcycles, were stolen during the month. The value of these amount up to almost 46 million rupees. A total of 52 burglaries, armed robberies, street crimes and thefts of various kinds reported in which Rs24.3 million worth of cash and valuables were looted.

14 incidents of kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person, 12 incidents of kidnapping, abducting or inducing a woman to compel for marriage and three incidents each of unnatural offences and enticing or taking away or detaining with criminal intent a woman were also reported. There were also 12 murders and 22 attempted murder cases in the city during the month of September.

Zia Bajwa, IGP’s public relations officer, said that 1,030 suspects were taken into custody in connection with 927 robberies, burglaries and vehicle thefts between Jan. 1 and Aug. 30 this year. Bajwa also added that about 752 million rupees worth of valuables were recovered in the process.
