Partial lockdown to be imposed in Islamabad from May 8 till 16
To control the surge in coronavirus, Islamabad Administration has issued new restrictions for the last week of Ramadan and on the Eid holiday.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqaat announced the partial lockdown in the federal capital during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays to control the spread of the virus.
The government has announced Eid-ul-Fitr holidays in Pakistan from May 10 to 15.
Details of the partial lockdown:
The lockdown will remain imposed from May 8 till May 16.
- All markets, commercial activities, businesses, and shops will remain closed from May 8 till May 16. Only essential services including medical and grocery stores, food takeaways, petrol pumps will be allowed to operate.
- A complete ban on all Chaand Raa bazaars including mehndi, jewelry and clothing stalls.
- Ban imposed on all tourist and picnic spots during this period.
- All public parks and shopping malls will remain closed.
- All inter-provincial, inter-city and intra-city public transport will be banned, however, private vehicles, taxis and cars with 50 percent occupancy and medical and other emergency services transport will be allowed.
We know Ramzan and Eid are very sacred to us but health comes first. Due to the increase in cases, we must avoid public gatherings.It’s not about smart or partial lockdown it’s all about taking care of yourself and others as every life is important.
