Two electricity projects were inaugurated in Mandi Bahauddin on Monday, with support from the Government of Japan, to improve the quality of life for rural communities in Punjab,

The projects, aimed at providing sustainable electricity to 15 communities, are funded under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program.

Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Akamatsu Shuichi officiated the inauguration ceremony, held in the presence of officials from the Japanese Embassy, members of the Hana Development Council, and local community leaders.

The total financial assistance provided for these projects amounts to USD 92,307. The Government of Japan has been a long-standing partner in Pakistan’s development, with the Hana Development Council receiving Japanese grant assistance on three separate occasions over the past two decades. This collaboration underscores Japan’s continued commitment to supporting Pakistan’s development, particularly in underserved and vulnerable areas.

Ambassador Akamatsu concluded his speech by reiterating Japan’s dedication to improving the living standards of Pakistani communities, and expressed his hope that these initiatives would further strengthen the enduring friendship between the people of Japan and Pakistan.
