Kangaroo Care AI, Pakistan’s first AI-powered incubator manufacturer, secured a Rs. 3 crore (or 30 million) deal with 25% equity from all the sharks on Shark Tank Pakistan, marking a significant step forward for the local tech ecosystem.
Specializing in advanced infant incubators, Kangaroo Care AI’s flagship product is a desktop application that allows medical professionals to monitor and control incubators in real time. The company’s AI-powered electric incubators ensure seamless operation and monitoring, offering critical support for newborns, including those in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).
With intuitive controls and real-time monitoring features, these incubators leverage cutting-edge artificial intelligence to enhance neonatal care. The startup is not only making life-saving technology accessible but also improving healthcare outcomes for premature and critically ill newborns.
Local innovation meets global standards
Kangaroo Care AI aims to manufacture and provide high-quality neonatal healthcare facilities across Pakistan. It is believed to be the first Pakistani manufacturer of infant incubators dedicated to improving the lives of infants through innovative technology.
A significant differentiator for Kangaroo Care AI is its affordability. Unlike its Chinese competitors, the company offers high-quality, locally manufactured products at competitive prices, making life-saving incubators more accessible to hospitals across Pakistan. To date, the company has sold 500 units to private hospitals, reflecting strong demand for its innovative solutions.
Beyond technology, Kangaroo Care AI emphasizes customer support by offering training and ongoing assistance to ensure optimal system performance.
Kangaroo Care AI also won the eighth edition of She Loves Tech 2024 Pakistan in September 2024 at Unilever’s headquarters in Karachi.
Judges praise vision and impact
Shark Tank Pakistan judge Romanna Dada praised the company’s mission, stating, “I wanted every shark to join this deal rather than one benefiting from the financial returns. This is where Pakistan shifts the tide, this is where countries can clean up their act.”
“This isn’t just about making something better—it’s about saving lives.”
Highlighting the story of a founder whose struggle to find an incubator for their sick child inspired the initiative, Dada emphasized the importance of a 100% locally made, cost-effective product that addresses a critical healthcare gap. Romanna Dada has 17 years of experience across Venture Capital, Investment Banking, and as a serial entrepreneur across global markets.
Kangaroo Care AI’s success represents a pivotal moment for Pakistan’s biomedical engineering sector, demonstrating how homegrown innovation can meet global healthcare challenges while addressing local needs.
