In a remarkable display of determination and skill, Naila Kiani, a Pakistani climber, reached the summit of Mount Everest on Sunday, proudly raising her country’s flag at the world’s highest peak.
Kiani’s achievement made her the second woman from Pakistan to conquer Everest, following in the footsteps of Samina Baig, who accomplished the feat in 2013, according to Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary General Karar Haidri.
With great courage and perseverance, Kiani reached the summit of Everest, scaling up to an impressive height of 8,849 meters, precisely at 8:02 am on Sunday. This triumph adds to her already remarkable mountaineering record, as she is now the only Pakistani woman to have scaled five eight-thousanders, including the mighty Everest.
Astonishingly, she achieved this feat within just two years, conquering Annapurna I in Nepal, as well as K2, Gasherbrum I, and II.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Naila Kiani, expressing his pride in her remarkable achievement and stating that she has made Pakistan proud. “Through her passion for mountaineering and amazing achievements to her credit, she has reinforced the notion that our women are capable of achieving anything. My heartiest congratulations to her & best wishes for her future plans,” he said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, Sajid Ali Sadpara, while summiting Mount Everest on May 14, 2023, achieved an incredible feat by conquering the peak without the use of supplementary oxygen or a sherpa’s support, told the Alpine Club secretary.
This remarkable achievement also brought great pride to Pakistan. Sadpara fulfilled his late father’s dream and adopted the challenging Alpine style of ascent, where climbers manage everything independently from base camp to the summit.
Mingma G, a renowned climber based in Kathmandu, congratulated Sadpara on this impressive accomplishment in a tweet.
Karrar Haidri, proudly acknowledged this momentous occasion and celebrated the extraordinary accomplishment of three Pakistanis, Naila Kiani, Nadia Azad (a British Pakistani), and Sajid Ali Sadpara, who achieved a remarkable feat on 14 May 2023 by successfully summiting Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak.
