Pakistan added to UK’s travel ban list over COVID fears

UK bans entry of travelers from Pakistan from April 9

The United Kingdom (UK) has banned people traveling from Pakistan starting April 9 to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Pakistan is among four countries that have been added to the UK’s red list amid concerns about new COVID-19 variants. The other three countries include Kenya, the Philippines and Bangladesh.

In his message on Twitter, British High Commissioner Christian Turner said that direct flights between Pakistan and the UK would continue to operate but schedules could change.

Who will be allowed to travel to UK?

British, Irish and third-country nationals with a residence card (including long-term visa holders) arriving from Pakistan will be required to self-isolate in a government-approved hotel quarantine facility for 10 days.

During their stay, passengers will be required to take a coronavirus test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8, and they will not be allowed to shorten their quarantine period on receipt of a negative test result.
