In a bid to strengthen international cooperation on climate change and disaster resilience, high-level representatives from Azerbaijan and Pakistan convened a pivotal meeting at the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination in Islamabad.
The Azerbaijan Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Khazar Farhadov, held a crucial meeting with Ezaz A. Dar, Secretary of the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination.
The meeting underscored the enduring bonds between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, rooted deep in history and characterized by fraternal relations, according to the Ministry’s spokesperson, Muhammad Saleem Shaikh,
Expressing commitment to bolster ties between the two nations, Mr. Ezaz A. Dar affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to fostering closer collaboration with Azerbaijan, highlighting the shared aspirations and values of their peoples.
Ambassador Farhadov conveyed Azerbaijan’s intention to host the upcoming UN-led annual global climate conference, COP29, building upon the groundwork laid during COP28 in Dubai. Emphasizing the need for collective action, he stressed the pivotal role of all stakeholders in advancing the global climate agenda.
The Ambassador highlighted President Ilham Aliyev’s declaration of 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World” in Azerbaijan, demonstrating the country’s commitment to addressing climate change on regional and global fronts.
In response, the Secretary, MoCC & EC, assured full support for the successful organization and execution of COP29, slated to commence on November 11 in Baku. This assurance reflects Pakistan’s solidarity and readiness to contribute to the global effort to combat climate change.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of tokens of appreciation, symbolizing the mutual resolve to deepen the longstanding and brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
