Initially, only 20% of the flights were allowed due to the spread of coronavirus
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced that Airlines have been allowed to operate an additional 30% of flights for Pakistan as the body revised its policy due to the declining number of Covid cases in the country. These flights will be other than the 20% flights previously allowed.
The move will help Pakistanis in their international travels. These flights include cargo flights operated by foreign airlines. Airlines will be required to submit their flight schedules by May 18th.
The corona tests for passengers inbound from Category C countries will be carried out at the airport and they will only be allowed to proceed home once they come back negative. In case someone is corona positive, there are measures in place for keeping such people in isolation.
There have been strict checks on international travel since travelers have been taking the different variants of the virus. Some countries have closed their borders altogether to ensure the virus can be controlled. It will be at least another couple of years before international air travel will be back to normal.
