The Embassy of Pakistan in the Netherlands celebrated the country’s rich cultural heritage with a vibrant Mango Festival at Pakistan House, showcasing the famous “King of Fruits” and its role in strengthening bilateral trade relations.
The event brought together Dutch business leaders and members of the Pakistani community in the Netherlands, offering them a taste of Pakistan’s agricultural pride.
During his address, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Netherlands highlighted the significance of Pakistani mangoes, which are among the finest globally.
“Pakistan is the world’s fourth-largest mango producer, cultivating over 2 million metric tons annually,” said the Ambassador, emphasizing the variety of mangoes such as Sindhri and Chaunsa that represent the diversity of Pakistan’s agricultural sector.
“Our mangoes, from the golden Sindhri to Chaunsa, represent the diversity and richness of Pakistan’s agricultural sector,” the Ambassador stated.
Pakistan-Netherlands trade ties
The event also served as an opportunity to reinforce the growing economic relationship between Pakistan and the Netherlands. The Ambassador noted that Pakistan’s exports to the Netherlands increased by 4% during 2023-24, with bilateral trade reaching USD 1.93 billion. Additionally, Pakistan received USD 182 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) from the Netherlands.
Appreciating the continued efforts of both Pakistani and Dutch businesses, the Ambassador acknowledged their role in fostering stronger bilateral ties.
He also encouraged Dutch importers to participate in TEXPO Pakistan 2024, an upcoming trade exhibition in Karachi scheduled for October.The festival offered attendees a cultural experience, with traditional Pakistani cuisine and a lucky draw for mango boxes, which many participants were eager to share with family and friends.
The event, organized by Trade and Investment Counsellor Muhammad Shafiq Haider Virk and the Embassy team, was a successful step in promoting Pakistan’s agro-products and enhancing trade collaboration with the Netherlands.
