Nation urged to follow teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
ISLAMABAD (Pakistan) – Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) is being observed with religious fervour across all across the country on Thursday (24 Dec 2015).
Muslims celebrate Eid e Milad-un-Nabi – the birthday of the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) – on 12th Rab’i al-awwal (third month of Islamic calendar).
The celebrations commenced early in the day with a 21-cannon salute in respect of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Different religious, social, cultural and educational organisations have planned programmes like Mahafil of Naat Khawani, Seerat conferences and Milad processions to mark the day.
Mosques, streets, plazas, roads, bazaars, markets, government buildings and houses are decorated with lights, flags and bunting on the occasion.
Strict security arrangements have been made across the country with deployment of police and paramilitary troops in different cities. More than 28,000 policemen have been deployed in Karachi to provide security.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in their messages, called upon the nation to resolve all issues through reconciliation and dialogue in keeping with the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The President, in his message, said the auspicious day “reminds us to discharge our obligations” by following the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
“If we do this, we will not only succeed in the Hereafter but also become a role model for the entire world,” he added.
The prime minister said: “Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) described all Muslims as a single body. Our survival and progress lie in consensus, unity and consultation.
“Our Prophet gave us all the highest standards of teachings that can be required and also demonstrated all that through his acts. He did not ask for anything which he did not act upon.”
Major mosques in cities and towns have been beautifully illuminated for the occasion. District administrations, government and private organisations have also made elaborate arrangements for illumination and decoration of buildings and parks. The government has already declared a public holiday for the occasion.
