Pakistan parliament to debate French ambassador’s expulsion today

TLP’s leadership called off nationwide protests as talks between the two sides to continue

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said that a resolution for the expulsion of the French Ambassador will be tabled in the National Assembly today after talks with TLP’s leadership. He said that talks are underway with the proscribed TLP, who have called off their country-wide protests. These details were provided in a video of the interior minister’s verified Twitter account.

Initially, the session of the National Assembly was called on the 22nd but later rescheduled for today at 3 PM. It is reported that the new development stems from talks between the interior minister, the Religious Affairs Minister Pir Noorul Haq Qadri, and TLP’s leadership late on Monday night.

Further development is expected later in the evening today after the National Assembly session. The interior minister also said that a detailed press conference will take place on the matter at a later time.
