Pakistan PM Khan discusses Afghanistan situation with Saudi, Qatar, UAE leaders

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday discussed bilateral relations and the latest situation in Afghanistan with the crown princes of Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, and the emir of Qatar.

According to press releases issued on Sunday, PM Khan held separate telephonic conversations with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, crown prince of Abu Dhabi Prince Mohamed bin Zayed and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

In all three telephone talks, Imran Khan discussed bilateral relations and the current situation of Afghanistan. The premier reiterated that an “inclusive political settlement” was the best course to adopt in the war-hit country, where the Taliban are gearing up to unveil their new government almost three weeks after they captured Kabul.

Imran Khan stressed that the international community had “the responsibility to stand by the Afghan people and support them economically as well as to help rebuild the country.”

He also emphasized the fact that a stable and Peaceful Afghanistan was very much important for Pakistan as well as for the whole region. Elaborating that a comprehensive political settlement was the best way to ensure a safe and secure Afghanistan with full protection of rights available to its people.

PM talks to Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia:

During PM’s call to the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the two leaders “agreed to work together to further augment and diversify bilateral ties in all spheres”
Imran Khan emphasized on Pakistan’s desire to strengthen its ties with the Kingdom as well as to support Saudi Arabia in maintaining its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Premier also showed his gratitude to MBS for his invitation to Middle East Green Initiative (MGI)’s launching ceremony. The ceremony is scheduled to be held in Riyadh in the coming month in regard to the present climate change adversities and environmental degradation.

Crown prince of Abu Dhabi:

PM Imran Khan also exchanged views with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed on matters of bilateral interest along with regional development.

In his comments, Mr.Khan reaffirmed “the importance Pakistan attaches to its strong fraternal ties with UAE and close cooperation between the two countries”.

He also applauded the Prince on the excellent arrangements done for the upcoming Expo 2020 and conveyed his best wishes for the tremendous success of the mega event.

Emir of Qatar:

The Prime Minister reasserted Pakistan’s desire to further fortify economic and political partnerships with Qatar. He appreciated Qatar’s assistance to Pakistan during the Corona pandemic, “in particular the care afforded to more than 200,000 Pakistani expatriates working for progress and development of both countries.”

In his call to Qatari Emir, the Prime Minister and His HighnessSheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani agreed to have close contact on bilateral issues as well as international and regional matters of mutual interest.
