500,000 doses of Sinopharm and 60,000 doses of CanSino vaccine arrive in Pakistan
Pakistan on Wednesday received 560,000 more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from China.
“The tranche includes 500,000 doses of Sinopharm and 60,000 doses of CanSino vaccine” Ministry of Health spokesperson Sajid Shah said.
The vaccine was received by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan at Nur Khan Airbase. Dr Sultan said the Pakistan government “will ensure uninterrupted supply of the vaccine.”
Another consignment of 500,000 doses is set to arrive on April 1. This will bring the total number of doses received from China to 2.5 million.
The third wave of coronavirus has hit Pakistan hard as the number spiked in March 2021 after decreasing earlier. The total number of COVID cases in Pakistan has reached 672,931 and the virus has killed 14,530 people so far since February 2020. At least 4,974 cases and 98 death were reported in the last 24 hours.
