New French Ambassador Dr. Marc Baréty presents credentials to President Mamnoon Hussain

New Ambassador of France to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Marc Baréty, has assumed his duties in Pakistan.
Mr Marc Baréty, a Ph.D in French Literature and a seasoned diplomat presented his credentials to Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain as new Ambassador of France on 1 November 2017 at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Mr Marc Baréty has earlier served in Iraq, Malaysia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Kuwait. Mr Barety has been decorated with prestigious French awards of Officer of the National Order of Merit and Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. He is fluent in English and Arabic.
In a special message, the Ambassador of France expressed his best greetings and shared with Pakistani friends the pride of representing France in Pakistan at a time “just when this country is turning 70 years old, allowing us to celebrate seven decades of close bilateral ties.”
Mr Baréty also assured support of French government to Pakistan.
“France is committed to provide its contribution for formulating and implementing appropriate responses to the major challenges of the present time covering the fight against terrorism, the protection of our environment, the reinforcement of democracy and social justice in the framework of common values and multilateralism.”
He also noted that “The long-lasting partnership between France and Pakistan has developed for years in many sectors: defense and security, trade, economy, high education and science.”
“Our common achievements cemented our bilateral relation but I am convinced that we can still reinforce this partnership and
create more opportunities. I will be fully dedicated to this aim.”
