Pakistan whitewashes Bangladesh in Test series

Pakistan registered clinical innings win against Bangladesh in the second test of the two match series to clinch the series 2-0 and win the trophy.

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan team smashed the home team with an innings and 8 run win moments before bad light was set to drop the curtains at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. Off-spinner Sajid Khan and Lahore batter Abid Ali played a key role in Pakistan’s 2-0 Test series victory.

28-year-old off-spinner Sajid Khan turned out to be the star performer in the Dhaka Test by bagging 12 wickets in the match. Sajid Khan, who had recorded his career-best bowling figures of 8 for 42 in the first innings, took another 4 wickets in the second innings to help Pakistan bag an innings win. He bagged the player of the match award for his stunning performance.

Abid Ali, who scored 133 and 91 in the Chattogram Test match last week, was awarded as Player of the series. Overall, Ali smashed 263 runs in three innings at a stunning average of 87.66.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam congratulated the “pack” on their stupendous Test series win. He picked out Sajid Khan and applauded his brilliant effort of 12 wickets in the match.

In the first test played in Chattogram, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets. Overall, Pakistan team has amassed three wins from four games in the World Test Championship Cycle 2021/23.

Pakistan stands second on World Test Championship points table

With the 2-0 whitewash of the Bengali Tigers in their den, the Pakistan cricket team has strengthened its position on the ICC World Test Championship points table. Pakistan stands second on the points table, just behind Sri Lanka and ahead of arch-rivals India. The team has 36 points and a win percentage of 75.

Earlier, Pakistan whitewashed the home team in the T20I series as well.
