Pakistani students secure highest number of scholarships to study in Indonesia

Pakistani students have secured the highest number of scholarships to study in Indonesia, the Southeast Asia country which is home to more than 17,000 islands.

An impressive total of more than 140 Pakistani scholars were selected for fully funded scholarships in various programs at prestigious universities in Indonesia.

This achievement of Pakistani students was celebrated during a special event organized by the Embassy of Indonesia in Islamabad. The event, which brought together scholarship recipients, highlighted their remarkable achievement and marked the beginning of their educational journey in Indonesia.

Ambassador of Indonesia, Adam Tugio, extended his warm congratulations to the recipients of the scholarships. He proudly announced that Pakistani students have clinched the highest number of Indonesian scholarships across various categories.

“The keen interest of applicants from Pakistan in continuing their higher studies in Indonesia testifies the growing bilateral academic linkages and spirit of friendship between Indonesia and Pakistan”, the ambassador said.

Tugio emphasized that the remarkable interest shown by Pakistani applicants in pursuing higher education in Indonesia highlights the increasing academic ties and the enduring friendship between the two nations.

He underscored the important of Dharmasiswa programs as it provides an excellent opportunity for the students to cultivate a deeper understanding of rich and diverse culture of Indonesia. “Upon completing your education, you will play more constructive role as a cultural ambassadors of both nations”, stated Tugio.

He said that the educational journey will not only equip Pakistani students with knowledge but also empower them to be cultural ambassadors, fostering strong ties between our countries.

The event was also attended by the presence of alumni from past scholarship programs, who engaged in meaningful interactions with the new recipients. They shared insightful experiences about their time studying and living in Indonesia.

One such alumnus, Muhammad Zalkifal, who studied at the prestigious Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB), known for its world-class research labs in agriculture, shared that his time in Indonesia was incredibly enriching.

“It was so enriching and has given a life time opportunity for me to learn from research experts and excel in my field”, he added. Following the completion of his master’s degree in IPB, Zalkifal has set his sights on pursuing a doctorate degree at a university in the UK.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, enabling scholarship recipients to seek guidance and advice, ensuring a smoother transition into their academic pursuits.

The Indonesian government, along with some of the nation’s top universities, offers fully-funded scholarships on an annual basis to Pakistani students, enabling them to pursue higher education in science and social science.
