Television host-turned politician Aamir Liaquat Hussain passed away on Thursday at his residence in Karachi, DIG East Muquddas Haider confirmed.
Haider told media that Aamir Liaquat’s condition worsened earlier in the morning after which his house helps took him to the Aga Khan University Hospital, but he could not survive and was declared dead later.
Initial reports do not show any foul play, said the police official, adding that a post-mortem examination of the lawmaker will be conducted at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly session was adjourned by Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf till 5 pm tomorrow (Friday, June 10). The session was underway when it got the news of the MNA’s death.
Aamir Liaquat left behind two children and a widow. He was married thrice out of which the last two marriages dominated news cycles and social media gossip along with very public separations each.
Aamir Liaquat’s Career
He joined the PTI in March 2018 and was elected as MNA from Karachi in the general elections held later that year. He had later fallen out with the party.
Earlier, he represented Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) as a key leader but parted ways with the party later in August 2016, saying at the occasion that he would be leaving politics.
The years he spent in the media limelight, however, provided Amir Liaquat with true fame and recognition. He joined Geo TV in 2001 as a host of a show named “Aalim Online” which was a religious program that gained him a large number of followers.
In the following years , he Ramzan Transmissions on two known channels, Geo TV and Bol News and the last show of his career that he hosted was Bol House with Amir Liaquat.

News of Amir Liaquat’s death triggered an outpouring of condolences and grief all over internet in Pakistan.
President Dr Arif Alvi took to twitter to express his deep sorrow and grief at the sudden demise of Hussain. He further prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased in his twitter post.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed his shock at the news. “Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain led a dynamic life from journalism to politics. He proved his mettle in various fields of life from writing and speech,” he said in his tweet.

Amir Liaquat’s third wife Syeda Dania Shah, who had recently filed for divorce from Hussain, was also among the ones offering condolences. She prayed for her ex-husband’s forgiveness and for him to be granted a place in Jannatul Firdous.
