Pakistan’s new low-cost airline Fly Jinnah begins flight operations

Fly Jinnah, Pakistan’s new low-cost airline, made its inaugural flight from Karachi to Islamabad on Monday afternoon, where the airplane was welcomed with the traditional water cannon salute. The operations officially began on November 1.

The airline, a joint venture of Lakson Group and Air Arabia Group, has a fleet comprising three Airbus A320-200. It will carry out only domestic flights in its first year of operations and will start international flights in the second year, COO Fly Jinnah Arman Yahya told the media.

The airline now operates direct flights from Karachi to Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar on daily basis, while four weekly flights will be carried out between Karachi and Quetta. The company also plans to expand its domestic operations to relatively smaller airports, including the one in Skardu, according to the COO.

The airline received its Air Operator Certificate and Air Operating License from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) earlier this month.

‘Fly Jinnah’ follows Air Arabia’s successful low-cost business model, in which the carrier operates short to medium-haul flights focusing on its customer base with a reliable operation and value-driven product.
