PIA says its Boeing 777s are equipped with safer General Electric engines
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) says that it will not ground its 12 Boeing-777 planes in its fleet.
The PIA”s statement comes following concerns of US and global regulators after engine failure of United Airlines Boeing 777-200 passenger plane scattered debris pover suburb of the US city of Denver on February 2021.
PIA spokesman Abdullah Hafeez said that the PIA’s fleet of Boeing 777s is equipped with General Electric engines that are considered to be the safest.
The passenger plane in the US involved in the accident was equipped with the Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine model that are used solely on Boeing 777s.
Boeing has recommended that airlines ground all 777s with the type of engine that blew apart after takeoff in Denver.
