PM Imran inaugurates Rashakai special economic zone

The special economic zone will help create about 200,000 new jobs directly and indirectly

Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the Rashakai Special Economic Zone under CPEC today. The special economic zone sprawling over 1,000 acres will home industries such as textile, medical, food and beverages, and engineering. About 200,000 people are expected to be employed directly and indirectly through this establishment.

The KPK government is ensuring that the operation is carried out smoothly. The government is leasing the land and not selling it, citing that it will encourage actual industries to be set up rather than people hoarding land for the prices to go up.

PM confident of increasing exports

PM Imran is confident that the steps in the right direction will help in boosting the exports and economic growth of the country in general. “If you aren’t increasing your exports, then the country’s wealth will never increase,” Khan said.

Khan also said that the hurdles for investment will be removed. “The more hurdles you remove for investors, the more investors will arrive here [in Pakistan],” he said. The PM also stressed treating potential investors in the best possible manner as they can help in job creation in the country.

Need of the hour

Pakistan has tons of human capital that can be utilized. SEZ’s like Rashakai can not only help employ common labor but also lead to the development of skilled labor. The government and authorities should ensure that they facilitate the development of these zones and allow investors to set up their establishments. It can boost the economy in a big way in the coming years.
