Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday laid down the cornerstone of Pakistan’s Digital City Special Technology Zone project, during his visit to Haripur.
This flagship project of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will provide a multitude of facilities to the IT industry at the same place.
Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA,) with the collaboration of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF IAST) is creating Pakistan’s first-ever digital city project which is scattered over 86 kanals of land, and the cost for this mega project is estimated to be nearly Rs 1.31 billion.
“The future is technology. The Special Technology Zone is a complete ecosystem. The provincial government-generated resources for the project will have a positive impact on next generations,” the prime minister said while addressing the launching ceremony of Pakistan Digital City Special Technology Zone here.
The project would serve as a hub of high technologies including IT and allied services by providing state-of-the-art facilities to people, experts, and investors under one roof and enable collaborations and innovation among academia, research, industry and planners from within the country and abroad.
While speaking to the ceremony, Prime Minister Imran Khan appreciated Dr. Attaur Rehman and former KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak for taking the initiatives which according to him would have a far-reaching impact on the provincial development.
PM also lauded Dr. Attaur Rehman for his support to establish the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in Haripur which would have a positive impact on the next generations.
Imran Khan also distributed licenses among the representatives of the companies aspiring to do business at the STZ. The premier said that the government was making record revenue collection and will proportionately increase its investment in the education and health sectors.
The digital city would help ensure speedy economic growth, promote IT and allied technologies, enhance the skills of youth, and generate hundreds of thousands of employment opportunities for the people.
