SECP registers 2,345 new companies in April 2022

Real estate development and construction sector remains on top with over 400 companies registered

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has reported the registration of 2,345 new companies in April 2022 taking the total number of registered companies in Pakistan to 168,030.

The latest figures depict an ‘increase of 7% as compared to the corresponding period last year.”

Total capitalization (paid-up-capital) with regard to newly incorporated companies for April stood at Rs3.1 billion.

“Foreign investment has been reported in 63 new companies.” The foreign investors are from Afghanistan, Austria, Azerbaijan, Canada, China, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Germany, Ireland, Jordan, Korea South, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UAE, UK, Ukraine and the USA.

Due to the integration of SECP with FBR and various provincial departments, 2,252 companies were registered with FBR for the generation of NTN, 58 companies with EOBI, and 2 companies with PESSI/SESSI.

Breakdown of companies registered in April 2022

  • In April, about 65% of companies were registered as private limited companies
  • 33% registered as single-member companies.
  • Nearly 2% were registered as public unlisted companies, not-for-profit associations, foreign companies and limited liability partnerships (LLP).
  • About 99.8% companies were registered online and 0.02 percent of companies were
    registered offline, while 175 foreign users were registered from overseas.

New companies by sectors

In April 2022, the real estate development and construction sector took the lead with over 400 companies registered followed by technology with 355 companies.
