Supreme Court of Pakistan, on Monday, adjourned the hearing on the suo motu case being conducted on the dismissal of the no-confidence motion moved against Prime Minister Imran Khan as well as the dissolution of the National Assembly until Tuesday, April 5.
While adjourning the matter, the Supreme Court of Pakistan stated that it could not decide on the case without listening to everyone. “The ruling cannot come out of thin air,” Chief Justice Bandial said.
The court’s trial was held today to carry out the proceedings on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s blocking of the no-confidence motion and dissolution of the National Assembly advised and implemented by the PM and the President respectively.
While hearing the matter, Justice Ahsan noted that there were violations in the proceedings of the no-trust resolution.
The petition was filed in SC against this move of PM IK by the oppositional parties and is being heard by a five-member Supreme Court bench including, Chief Justice Bandial, Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Munib Akhtar.
Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial said the Supreme Court will announce a “reasonable” order today in the case, according to a news agency.
However, the court failed to come to a verdict during the three-hour hearing and will return on Tuesday.
Blocking of No-Confidence Motion:
Earlier, on Sunday the Deputy Speaker of Pakistan National Assembly, Qasim Khan Suri, rejected the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan as he declared it unconstitutional citing Article 5 of the Constitution of Pakistan and thus blocked the voting process.
He said that the motion was against the Constitution and the rules of Pakistan.
Consequently, the Supreme Court took a suo motu notice to resolve the matter.
