President Emomali was invited to Pakistan by Imran Khan earlier through Shah Mehmood Qureshi
Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon arrived at the Nur Khan Airbase on a two-day official visit of Pakistan where he will meet many high-ranking government officials including Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi. The Tajik President is accompanied by a high-level delegation.

President Rahmon and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met in Islamabad. The two discussed the matters of bilateral importance as well as the ongoing Afghan peace talks. President Rahon said that Pakistan expressed interest in increasing bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan in many fields including education, housing, infrastructure development, technology, and energy.
Qureshi added that the two sides have a lot of potential to work in different fields of life including boosting trade. “The two countries have immense potential to expand multi-faceted bilateral cooperation, including trade,” the FM said.
The foreign minister also impressed upon the importance of Tajikistan as a friend. “Tajikistan is important within the context of Pakistan’s vision for closer ties and enhanced cooperation with Central Asia. The vision emphasizes forging deeper trade, investment, energy, security, and people-to-people links”. Some agreements and MoUs will also be inked before the conclusion of the official visit.
