Mega Motor Company (MMC), the official partner of BYD in Pakistan, has received a Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) vessel carrying more than 2,000 BYD New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) at Karachi Port, marking the largest-ever shipment of BYD vehicles to arrive in Pakistan to date, according to a July 17 statement.
The shipment is expected to support customer deliveries as demand for new energy vehicles continues to grow in the country. The arrival also reflects the increasing scale of vehicle shipments as Pakistani consumers show growing interest in the economic, environmental and technological benefits of electric mobility.
BYD cites growing demand for NEVs in Pakistan
The latest shipment comes as Pakistan’s transition toward NEVs continues to gather pace, with growing consumer interest in electric mobility contributing to increased demand for BYD vehicles.
The company said the larger shipment reinforces BYD’s commitment to making NEVs more accessible in Pakistan while supporting the country’s broader shift toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
Speaking on the occasion, Danish Khaliq, Vice President, Sales & Strategy, BYD Pakistan and MMC, said: “This milestone reflects the growing confidence of Pakistani consumers in NEVs and the increasing momentum of Pakistan’s transition towards sustainable mobility. Amid evolving global supply chain challenges and unprecedented demand for BYD vehicles worldwide, we worked closely with our partner to strengthen supply planning and logistics.”
He added the shipment marks an important step in enhancing vehicle availability and reinforces our commitment to ensuring customers receive their vehicles in a timely and reliable manner.
Pakistan remains important to BYD’s global growth
Lei Jian, Country Head, BYD Pakistan, said Pakistan remained an important market in BYD’s global growth journey.
“BYD’s journey to becoming the world’s No. 1 NEV brand has been driven by a commitment to continuous innovation, quality and sustainable mobility. Pakistan is an important market in BYD’s global growth journey, and we remain committed to supporting its transition towards cleaner transportation by introducing world-class NEVs and strengthening our presence in the country. We thank our customers for the trust and confidence they’ve placed in our products, and we look forward to supporting the next phase of electric mobility in Pakistan.”

The company said it would continue working to strengthen its presence in Pakistan as the country’s electric mobility market develops.
RoRo shipment highlights scale of automotive logistics
The arrival of the shipment through a Roll-on/Roll-off vessel also highlights the role of modern automotive logistics in supporting the movement of large vehicle consignments.
Purpose-built to transport vehicles safely and efficiently, RoRo vessels enable the movement of larger consignments and can contribute to improved supply chain resilience and vehicle availability.
The latest shipment marks a significant expansion in the scale of BYD vehicle arrivals in Pakistan as the company seeks to meet growing demand for NEVs and support the country’s shift toward electric mobility.
The shipment also comes as BYD continues to advance plans for a local vehicle assembly facility in Pakistan. The company is developing a $150 million NEV assembly plant near Gharo, with an initial annual production capacity of 25,000 vehicles and plans to expand capacity to 50,000 units in a second phase. The facility is expected to be completed by late 2026.
