A new Green Electric Bus Service has started operating between Islamabad and Murree, offering residents and visitors a low-cost alternative to traveling by private cars.

With a fare of just Rs. 20, the service could be particularly useful for people looking for an affordable way to travel from Islamabad to Murree while avoiding the hill station’s traffic and parking problems.

Murree Electric Bus Timings

The Green Electric Bus Service operates daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Buses are expected to arrive approximately every 45 minutes. Passengers planning to use the service should therefore allow some waiting time, particularly when planning a trip from Islamabad to Murree or returning from Murree.

Murree Electric Bus Fare

  • The fare for every ride is Rs. 20.
  • Women, senior citizens and children under five can travel free of charge, making the service an even more affordable option for families.

Where to Catch the Electric Bus to Murree

The service starts at the 17-Mile, also known as Satra Meel, stop on the Murree-Islamabad Expressway and ends at Lari Adda, Murree’s main bus stand. The route includes stops at scenic locations such as Jhika Gali and Lower Topa.

Once in Murree, passengers arriving at Lari Adda can access several of the hill station’s popular attractions, including Mall Road, Pindi Point, Kashmir Point and Patriata (New Murree).

Where to Park for the Murree Electric Bus

Visitors traveling from Islamabad can park their cars near Satra Meel stop and continue toward Murree by electric bus.

This provides an alternative for people searching for how to avoid parking problems in Murree or looking for a way to travel to the hill station without driving all the way into the busy town.

The service could be particularly useful during peak tourist periods, when traffic congestion and limited parking make travel through Murree more difficult. Visitors arriving by car can just park their cars near the Satra Meel stop and take the Green Electric Bus Service to Murree.

The introduction of the electric buses gives residents and tourists a low-cost public transportation alternative while supporting cleaner mobility in one of Punjab’s most popular tourist destinations.

15 Electric Buses to Serve Murree

The service has been introduced with a fleet of 15 fully air-conditioned electric buses, offering passengers a more comfortable public transportation option while supporting cleaner mobility.

The Murree service is part of Punjab’s broader 1,500-electric-bus project, which aims to expand zero-emission public transportation across the province. The provincial program is focused on improving public transport, reducing emissions and providing more affordable travel options.
