Divvy film festival underway at PNCA

Pakistan’s film industries revival is in its nascent stages and the coronavirus has dealt it a telling blow. In order to support filmmakers, PNCA launched a six weeks long film festival titled Divvy-PNCA Film Festival. The festival will continue until the 16th of November. The event includes discussions with filmmakers and experts as well as screening of 20 films, documentaries, short films and animations. Some of the movies being shown at the festival are being premiered for the first time. Work from Sharmin Obaid Chenoy, Haron, and Lara Lee are also being shown at the festival.

Annual Folk Festival begins at Lok Virsa

Minister for Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture Shafaqat Mahmood inaugurated the 10-day long Annual Folk Festival at National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage’s (Lok Virsa) in Islamabad. The festival aims to create more awareness about the local cultures in the country and also serves as a platform for promotion of tourism. The minister appreciated the event and said such steps are important for the greater understanding of local traditions. The event also provides handicraftsmen from around the country an opportunity to showcase their craft and earn some money in the process.

Agri-Hackathon in the capital

A virtual agri-hackathon is being launched in order to find solutions to agricultural problems faced by the country. NIC is holding the event on November 11th. Prior to the event, an expert panel consisting of professionals associated with companies including Jazz, Engro, FAO, Neelas, Kausar Group/Walled City and Ubank will hold a talk on The Future of Agriculture through Innovation. Teams can apply with their solutions based on the problems being looked into. The winning teams will mentors and possibly investment to scale up their prototypes and reach commercial levels.
