Asia’s Energy Transition Summit kicks off at LUMS

The Asia’s Energy Transition Summit commenced on September 28 at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), aiming to encourage discussions on renewable energy adoption.

The event, organized by the LUMS Energy Institute (LEI) in partnership with the Pakistan Renewable Energy Coalition (PREC), brings together regional energy experts, researchers, policymakers, and civil society activists.

The two-day summit will focus on Asia’s transition away from fossil fuels and the need for collaborative efforts to mobilize financing and policy frameworks. It also seeks to align Asian energy transition efforts with COP28 targets, specifically the tripling of renewable energy and doubling energy efficiency by 2030.

Key participants include the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, the Co-convener of the Parliamentary Forum on Energy, and the Federal Minister of Energy. The event will feature multiple plenary sessions, panel discussions, and group activities designed to explore actionable solutions to energy challenges.

Attendees will present evidence-based insights from across Asia, showcasing innovative approaches to scaling up renewables. Sessions will address topics such as green financing, policy reform, and technological advancements in energy conservation.

By the summit’s conclusion, the aim is to generate real-time, practical solutions for accelerating renewable energy adoption and capitalizing on global shifts toward sustainability. The event also highlights the importance of regional cooperation in achieving these objectives.
