Biggest Air Show in Islamabad marks Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day

Pakistan Air Force holds its biggest Air show in Islamabad featuring aerobatic teams from Turkey and Saudi Arabia

The skies of Islamabad were filled with multicolored trails and thunder of powerful planes flown by expert pilots at the majestic air show – the largest in the country’s history – on Monday.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Sohail Aman were the chief guests at the air show held by Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

Many dignitaries and diplomats joined hundreds of Pakistanis at F9 Park in Islamabad to watch the impressive air show marking Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day.

This was the largest-ever air show in Pakistan’s history in which PAF displayed its impeccable ability. The breathtaking formation displayed by the PAF aircraft won them praises and cheers by the audience.

PAF and Army’s Puma SA330, Augusta and Mi-17 helicopters participated in the show. PAF’s F-16 and JF-17 Thunder performance was the main charm of the air show.

Commandos also displayed an air drop and fly-past from the helicopters. The amazing paratrooping by commandos of the PAF, Army and navy from Mi-17 helicopter marked the conclusion of the show when the paratroopers touched ground Pakistan flags.

The Independence Day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital along with a 21-gun salute in each provincial capital. Flag hoisting ceremonies were held in the provincial capitals and district headquarters. The main ceremony of Independence Day was held at Islamabad’s Convention Centre, where the president and prime minister hoisted the national flag.
